Tonight, Tonight, Tonight

I’m going to start off by saying this right off the bat: I like DeRo. I don’t really understand why others don’t. Oh sure, he’s a bit of a douche, but who cares? Honestly, he’s a pro athlete, is it that shocking? And, he’s a good pro athlete. Now this is not excusing his sometimes dick-ish behaviour, not at all, but it’s not surprising in the least. I never underst00d why people expected him to carry the team, score goals, be the best, and be happy with second billing to “stars” that didn’t do half of what he did.

I don’t even mind his victory dance.

And, yes, you can make the argument, “three teams this season! There has to be a reason why people want to get rid of him!” but that doesn’t make him less of a player. Dickishness aside, he’s great! He’s also fun to watch. And once, he signed my scarf:

So yeah, he has a bad attitude, but whatever. Maybe we should all just forgive, forget, and move on from the DeRo hate. But then again, I also think Gattuso is wonderful…

Anyway, let’s talk about tonight; yes, DeRo scored a hattrick (though a penalty shouldn’t be included in that), but there was more to the game than just that. We’re getting there guys; we’ve improved so much in such a short amount of time. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “that second TFC goal shouldn’t of counting!” (who are you?! Why are you even reading this blog?!), but we all know the ref was going to give DC a penalty to make up for it at some point. Of course, doing it in the last minutes of the game that we had pulled ahead of his a bit heartbreaking (um, the penalty could have totally been called for, I dunno, I was rolling on the ground screaming and upsetting my niece. I’m violent to watch games with. Ask Peters, we had to sit on separate couches), but, yeah, whatever.

The point is, we tied on the road again; our road games are vastly improving. And yeah, they were down a man, but we’re scoring. New guys, Marosevic and Iro, old guys, De Guzman (it was a beautiful goal, by the way), we’re mixing it up. We are playing more as a team, our corners don’t look (as) amateur, and while our backline isn’t great, we have Frei.

And, someone one recently told me that we can make playoffs.**

We’re almost there boys, get through it. Have faith!

Okay, DeRo scored
But, “Toronto ‘til I die”
You boys make me proud.

Hopp,
scm
