I have to say, being able to drink at 10am is awesome. I was drunk before noon today. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the SA - Mexico match; to be honest, I didn’t come in with high expectations. However, I was impressed with South Africa (especially their keeper) and the way they fought off a sluggish Mexico.
Speaking of sluggish, here’s a picture of a slug I found on my shoe yesterday:
SA – Mexico was defiantly better than the Uruguay – France game, which reminded me of every group stage French match: slow and pudgy.
Speaking of slow and pudgy, here’s that slug again:
Uruguay are looking decent though, after today’s matches, I see them winning the group. Remember, France is like Italy: they don’t bother trying.
Anyway, a tie for both games may not seem like a great way to start off the WC, but both games were enjoyable (NB: I missed half of the Uruguay – France game because I was trapped on a bus with children. It was hell). Highlight: Henry complaining to the ref for not calling a handball against Uruguay.

I am looking forward to tomorrow’s match ups. I really hope that I don’t sleep through S. Korea – Greece (1. The early morning part and 2. The S. Korea – Greece part), but I am looking forward to Argentina – Nigeria, and of course, England – USA.
Hopp,
scm.
Post script: For the record, I am losing all of my pools and everytime I close my eyes, I hear the vuvuzelas.
